These days, people in the city are very grateful with the existence of zoo. However, some people think that it is not a good idea to put animals in the cage and they should live in their natural habitats. I personally agree about having zoo in the city because it gives several benefits, even though there are some issues related to this. Through this essay, I will discuss some of my arguments regarding this matter.

The existence of the zoo in the city is beneficial. First, by visiting zoo, children can be introduced to the animals in their real shape. Kids these days learn about mammals, birds, reptiles, etc only through pictures or videos that they watched, so having zoo in the city can make them excited and feel more enthusiastic about animals and nature. Next, zoo can become the place to conserve the animal. Animals in their natural habitats are sometimes faced by their predators and that is dangerous for their future. In the zoo, they can be protected and fed well. The last advantage of zoo establishment in the city is for the city’s income. Government have to manage the zoo well so it can be opened for public. They may charge the entrance ticket to the visitors after that. By doing this, city government can use the money to maintain the zoo or use it for public facilities improvement

However, there are some challenges that need to be taken into account, especially by the management team of the zoo. They really have to take care of all the animals since most animals, particulary the wild one, are very sensitive. The managers should make sure that the food is sufficient and the habitat is also similar with the real environment. Besides that, the managers have to provide strict rules to the visitors so they will not disturb the animal well being. Some of the animals require quiet situation or they will get anxious.

In conclusion, providing zoos in the cities rather than keeping them in the real habitat give many advantages. However, visitors and stakeholders like zoo management and city’s government have to pay attention more to protect the animal and make sure they are safe in the zoo.
