My Experience with Coursera
To be honest, it is my first time taking an online course with Coursera. For those who are not familiar with this platform, Coursera is the global online learning platform that offers anyone, anywhere access to online courses and degrees from world-class universities and companies (coursera.org). Previously, I used to take courses from FutureLearn which is similar to Coursera. Well, just because I knew this website long before I acknowledged other platforms.
Why did I decide to try taking the course in Coursera? This semester, all the lecturers at UT have been asked to take maximum 2 courses in Coursera that has cooperation with ICE Institute. So, this is mandatory. However, I think this is a really great opportunity to get to know this platform better. I am now taking “Learning to Teach Online”, a 5 modules-course by UNSW Sydney (The University of New South Wales).
I have just completed Module 1 and my experience was quite good. The videos are short but with a clear explanation from the experts. There were also some activities that we have to fulfilled before continue to the next step. Case studies in a form of video that provided in every module were helpful to make the learner understand the concept better. Finally, the discussion with other learners open our mind about different perspective and opinion.
Four modules to go!
